For government and commercial technology services company leaders, Mr. Sabo provides senior operating support, including business transformation, strategic planning, organization development, growth initiatives, leadership development, and M&A.
Mr. Sabo led the sale of Evolver to a private equity firm. He then served as the company’s President responsible for the overall performance including P&L, annual and strategic planning, policy implementation, operations, and growth. Mr. Sabo increased revenue by nearly 60%, more than doubled EBITDA, improved bottom line margins by over 30%, added new contract vehicles as well as new government and commercial customers, and upgraded the company’s positioning as an IT and cyber security company.
Mr. Sabo was CEO and Board Director for Evolver, Inc., which serves clients in the federal, commercial, and legal markets. Evolver provides infrastructure support, application development, private cloud solutions, and big data analytics for litigation support. Mr. Sabo increased the value of the company by adding a strong cybersecurity capability addressing the federal and commercial markets. Mr. Sabo also enhanced Evolver’s certifications to include ISO 27001, ISO 9001 and CMMI Level 3 and earned a Smart CEO Award for corporate growth and a Best of Reston Award.
Mr. Sabo was CEO, co-founder, and member of the Board of Directors of Enterprise Solutions Group (ESG). ESG provided technology and business consulting solutions for financial management, human capital, supply chain and customer relationship management systems for Oracle and PeopleSoft customers. Under his leadership ESG achieved Platinum Partner status with Oracle Corporation and served mid-market companies as well as numerous marquee, Fortune 1000 organizations. Mr. Sabo built ESG’s leadership team, determined the company’s set of offerings, and was personally involved in landing and nurturing many of its high volume, long term revenue generating accounts including organizations such as the National Academy of Sciences, the Educational Testing Service, Quest Diagnostics Labs, and Northrop Grumman. With sales approaching $30M, Mr. Sabo led the successful sale of the company to a private equity firm in May 2013.
Mr. Sabo was co-founder of WSTA Consulting, a strategic planning, operational and business development consulting firm serving over 50 companies in the federal contracting arena. Mr. Sabo focused on providing measurable, positive results for clients. For example, Mr. Sabo established a business development program for a small company with declining revenue that put the company back on a strong growth path and positioned it for a successful sale. For a large company, Mr. Sabo reported directly to the CEO and assisted in developing the successful capture and proposal strategy for two critical re-competes totaling $1B.
As Vice President for Strategic Development at Planning Research Corporation, Mr. Sabo reported directly to the CEO of this $700M publically owned systems integrator, where he played a key role in merging two large technology companies into the organization.
Mr. Sabo began his career at Advanced Technology, Inc. providing logistics support to U.S. Navy customers. He moved quickly into a full time role in business development, where he established the company’s business development program that contributed greatly to its rapid growth from $5M to over $150M in revenue. Mr. Sabo led strategic and business development planning across all operating units, developed a business development training program, played an active role in every major win, and contributed personally to the company’s successful diversification throughout DoD and many civilian agencies in the federal government.
Mr. Sabo served in the engineering department on destroyers from 1972 to 1975, when he was selected to return to the U.S. Naval Academy to join the academic staff. In addition to teaching courses in writing and public speaking, he pursued his Master’s Degree, published several articles, and re-wrote the entire Naval Academy catalogue to reflect the inclusion of the first class of women.
